When can we sell bonus shares? Suppose I got bonus shares as of today, is it possible for me to see these shares tomorrow or on the same trading day?
Bonus shares are extra shares a company gives to its existing shareholders for free.
Once the bonus shares are credited to your demat account, you can sell them just like your regular shares.
There is no lock-in period for bonus shares.
The only condition is that the shares must be visible and tradable in your account, which usually takes a few days after the record date, depending on the company’s processing time.
So, even if you received bonus shares “as of today,” you normally cannot sell them the same day or the next day.
You can sell them only after they officially reflect in your holdings.
